Modern Ductile iron pipe is made to last 100+ years and is an environmentally preferable product due to its recycled content, energy savings while in service, its durability, its recyclability, and the commitment of the Ductile iron pipe industry.
DIPRA Century Club
The Cast Iron Pipe Century Club was organized in 1947 to publicly recognize water utilities with cast iron mains that have provided service for 100+ years. The Cast Iron Pipe Sesquicentennial Club was formed in 1989 to recognize water utilities with cast iron mains that have provided continuous service for 150 years or more.
Although cast iron pipe has been superseded by Ductile iron pipe, which is even stronger than cast iron and can be expected to exceed the performance of its predecessor, DIPRA continues to sponsor and add members to the Century and Sesquicentennial clubs.
